How are providers reimbursed?
Providers collect copayment or coinsurance amounts, if applicable, from SecurityChoice members at the time of service, and then directly bill UniCare for the balance. Providers are reimbursed at the equivalent of the current Medicare allowable amount for Medicare-covered services.
How long will it take UniCare SecurityChoice to pay a claim?
SecurityChoice, a Medicare Advantage Plan, is required to pay "clean" (complete and error free) claims within 30 days of receipt.
Does UniCare SecurityChoice cover everything that Medicare covers?
Yes! SecurityChoice members receive the same benefits they would receive under Original Medicare. In addition, SecurityChoice covers certain routine services not covered by Medicare.
How does a provider know that a Medicare beneficiary is enrolled with UniCare's SecurityChoice?
A UniCare SecurityChoice member will present his/her ID card at the time of service. The member's ID card clearly indicates that he/she is a UniCare Security Choice member, and it lists the toll-free customer service telephone number and gives the address where claims should be submitted.
Are there network or utilization restrictions?
No! UniCare SecurityChoice members are not resticted to a network of providers. Members can access any physician in the U.S. who holds a valid license, a Medicare billing number (or is eligible to obtain one), possesses applicable certifications to treat Medicare beneficiaries, and agrees to the Terms and Conditions of the Plan. There are no referral or prior authorization requirements to access Medicare covered services.
