Appointment Access Standards
UniCare HMO has established the following standards for obtaining appointments with primary care physicians (PCPs):
- Complete physical exam within 6 weeks
- Initial prenatal visit within 30 calendar days
- Non-urgent medical exam within 14 days
- Urgent care within 24 hours
- Emergent care available the same day
- After hours access to an on-call physician 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Members are expected to schedule all routine visits in advance. Members have been informed of these standards through the member newsletter. PCP compliance with these standards is monitored through member complaints, office site visits, and telephone audits. Please do all that you can to provide appointments within these timeframes.
